A 1946 is one of the oldest Maidenform ads I have found. Seems to be PRE "I dreamed" ads.

Vintage Lingerie Old Hollywood Style Dressing Gowns

Vintage Lingerie Dressing Gowns of the past.. Are these not the epitome of OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR OR WHAT!?! Why don't women of today still dress this way? I mean, come on, this no way compares or competes with the trash of what today's lingerie is offered from places like V.Secret. Occasionally you can pop into a Frederick's of Hollywood and find your self a marabou peignoir, but not in glorious rayon satin or true chiffon nylon. Most are created in a polyester chiffon or sickly poly satin. ICK. I was born in the wrong era. *sigh*

Vintage Lingerie LUCIE ANN for CLAIRE SANDRA Peignoir Dressing Gown

Have you ever just come across something that literally makes your mouth drop to the floor? I have. Here is my story. While in Florida last week, I had the rare opportunity to go to St. Augustine and visit the most charming little vintage clothing stores and estates. I needed this little break after a harrowing week of funeral plans for my beloved Grandpa (who most of you know recently passed away).

While doing a *little shopping* I came across this wonderful estate find. I won't tell you how much I paid for her, but let me tell you, she was to die for. Just the epitome of MID CENTURY OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAM complete with fluffy marabou, by none other LUCIE ANN for CLAIRE SANDRA of Beverly Hills. I'll let my pictures do the talking here.

The bad news it is no longer available, it was snagged up and purchased within 10 minutes of listing it last night for $325.00. Here is the listing on eBay: Lucie Ann Claire Sandra Marabou Gown . Vintage Lingerie on Mad Men

I'm simply mad for Mad Men with the ever so yummy and delicious Don Draper and Roger Sterling, not to mention the beautiful women such as voluptuous secretary Joan, the frumpy and dowdy, Peggy Olson, and the sweet and not so innocent Betty Draper. But what I really want to talk about is the lingerie...what else?

Are the principles wearing period vintage lingerie the same even when they’re not going to get undressed on camera? But of course! I recently learned they (the actresses) always wear true, period/era vintage lingerie. Seriously, the vintage foundations for the ladies are really why I think so many people have been so attracted to the costume design of the show. Not only does it help the vintage clothing/garments they are wearing look better but it also helps the actresses walk the way they’re supposed to walk! *giggles*. It’s about transporting the actresses into an era and for the audience to be transported as well.

I would think it's a challenge for the sex scenes, sort of figuring out, like, Okay how is this garment going to open? What are we going to see? Are we going to see the slip? Are we going to see the girdle? Are we going to see the garters? You know, just seeing all of the layers.. HOW EXCITING! I always love that.
